For those familiar with the Irish arts scene, the musical antics of Kalle Ryan have been a well-known phenomenon for some time now. His fusion of poetic lyrics and folksy acoustic guitar chords have established him as a mainstay in the small venue circuit. With this, his first album release, the sense of anticipation is palpable.

In many ways, the record ultimately fails to capture the full energy of a Kalle Ryan live show, yet having said that, it nevertheless manages to capture much of the trademark mischievnousness (simply read through the track titles) in addition to showcasing his forceful strumming style.

The record will undoubtedly satisfy his legion of loyal fans, and with any luck, should open his music up to a wider audience. Kalle Ryan is an important new voice and this album is deserving of a listen. ( * * * * )
