| As far as Kalle Ryan is concerned, the world can kiss his arse. With the voice of a battered seagull and a guitar strung like a steel factory, he waxes lyrical about the world and all its little failings. Reminiscent of Dylan on Blood on the Tracks, with a hint of early Elvis Costello, he hits a raw nerve with almost every track on this startling little album. Footsteps in Chalkdust is a refreshingly naïve but solid album, that rings of honesty like only a debut record can. Kalle Ryan is one to watch for the future. |
